Do you drink turmeric milk before going to bed at night? What other ingredients can you add to it to make it even more beneficial?

Consuming turmeric-infused milk—often called "golden milk"—before bedtime is a highly healthy habit. Typically, this drink is prepared by mixing turmeric and black pepper into milk. However, by adding a few other familiar spices and ingredients, you can not only enhance the flavor of the golden milk but also boost its medicinal properties.

Three such ingredients are cinnamon, green cardamom, and honey. Let’s explore how these three ingredients enhance the effectiveness of turmeric milk.

Cinnamon:

The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties in cinnamon help reduce inflammation in the body. It also helps regulate blood sugar levels at night and supports healthy digestion, which in turn promotes better sleep.

Honey:

Honey aids in the secretion of melatonin—a hormone that facilitates sleep. However, it should not be added to boiling milk; instead, it should be stirred in once the milk has cooled to a lukewarm temperature.

Cardamom:

Cardamom acts as a natural detoxifier. It is highly effective in alleviating acidity, bloating, or gas after a meal. Its pleasant aroma also helps reduce stress and calms the mind.

Why turmeric milk is beneficial:

The 'curcumin' found in turmeric boosts the immune system. Adding a small pinch of black pepper powder ensures that the benefits of turmeric are more effectively absorbed by the body.

Important Note

If you have diabetes, it is best to avoid adding honey. Consuming a glass of this mixture daily can strengthen your immune system, relieve muscle fatigue, and help you enjoy a deep, restful sleep.
