The Change of Islam in Bangladeshi Society - From Personal Purification to Rituals
------
The neighborhood we grew up in as children can be called a Hindu-dominated neighborhood. Although many Hindus were killed and many Hindus left the country as a result of the Hindu massacre and expulsion during the 1971 War of Independence, the Hindu house in front of our house was set on fire in the beginning of 1971 because it was just a Hindu house. All the financially well-off, polite and talented children of that family, except the elder brother, left for India in the eighties.
Although many Hindus left the country during the War of Independence, many returned and after independence, despite all the losses, they started life with new enthusiasm in their ancestral homes. At that time, the sound of conch shells and bells and the sounds of mantras and aartis would be heard every evening, and the call to prayer in a sweet voice could also be heard at the same time. No one ever felt annoyed or annoyed by this. It is safe to say that television was not in people's homes then. There was a radio where people listened to the news and listened to the Sri Lankan Radio Shillong's program Binaka Geetmala, which featured all the hit songs from Hindi movies. During the puja, those Hindi songs from Asha, Lata, and Kishore's movies were played on the microphone day and night. Just as during the puja, a festive feeling prevailed in everyone's mind, similarly the Eid and Qurbani Eid festivals also surrounded the entire neighborhood. We, young boys and girls, regardless of religion, used to enjoy the joy of walking, eating, and being friends. The adults did the same. I never heard any slogans, processions, accusations, conspiracies, or announcements of jihad against Hindus or Muslims by saying Allahu Akbar. Back then, not all people in the neighborhood were angels. Each person was judged not by his religion, but by his personal character. The purpose of the temple in the homes of wealthy Hindus or the prayers of Muslims was to try to be honest and ideal as a person.
After the assassination of Sheikh Mujib and his family in 1975, instead of being personally honest and idealistic, the mentality that the more Muslim one looks, the better he is and the more non-Muslim one looks or behaves, the worse he is has increased among the followers of Islam in Bangladesh. Islam changed from a religion of personal purification to a religion of ritual or observance of rituals or worship. Those who know about Islam and the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) know that the Abrahamic religions originated with the aim of taking people out of the religions of rituals or worship and creating a better and more just and human rights-based society by observing the religion of personal purification. The reason for this is that the religions of worship are invented in the villages, where the personal good and bad of a person cannot be hidden from the people of the village. On the other hand, and the Abrahamic religions are invented in the cities, where the burden of character is on the people.
Hinduism and Abrahamic religions are not the same. Hinduism is not really a religion. Many people say that Hinduism is polytheistic, which is also not true. When agricultural civilization spread from the Zaragoz area of Iran ten thousand years ago, they noticed that all animals, plants and objects in the world followed certain rules or patterns in that society. At the same time, about five thousand years ago, they noticed that all animals in the world have a sense of judgment and the ability to measure fairness. From this, they assumed that an ideal power (and another evil power) exists in all living souls. They considered the combined presence of this ideal power to be God. Due to this, Zoroastrianism began in Iran and the Hindu religion of the Vedas and Upanishads began in the Indian subcontinent.
In the current society of Bangladesh, we see that Hindus have been expelled from the country through various processes. As a result, the noise of Hindu rituals or worship rules in the society is almost non-existent. The society is completely under the control of Muslims. In this harmony, the extreme chauvinism of Islam has been revealed in society. Just as in Zoroastrianism or the Hindu religion of the Vedas and Upanishads, gods of opposite ideals with equal power are thought of as one good and another evil, in the religions of Abraham there is no such equality of power of opposite ideals. There is no real form of Satan in the religions of Abraham. The Satan of the Abrahamic religion is an angel like many other angels of God who was the most beloved of God. The Satan of the Abrahamic religion does not call God to fight. He can only work on the minds of people. He was born as a Satan from the time of not prostrating to Adam.
Long ago, the wise men of Israel in the Middle East discovered that no matter how advanced, educated, and how good a state, party, or organization people create, if they do not practice personal purification, they will be led by the persuasion of Satan. Society will become a hotbed of injustice, lawsuits, attacks and violence to control others. Today we see that everyone is Muslim, only the slogans of Allahu Akbar and Jihad are being chanted. But honesty, fairness, and trust in each other have completely disappeared. The more Islam there is, the more theft, embezzlement, debauchery and intolerance there is. The reason for this is that Islam has moved away from personal purification and has become a religion of rituals or observance of rituals. This has been combined with the so-called mind virus of Western free society. Which teaches us to follow the values of social power and factions rather than thinking about ourselves and our spiritual crisis.
To understand the misguidance of Islam, we need to know about the history of the religion of Abraham. A brief description of it is given (in the following episodes).
t should be remembered that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are an inseparable chain. It is as if the same God is sending some rules and regulations to make society livable by purifying people individually, but people are going astray by not applying them. It is also important to note here that the religions of Abraham, such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which we consider as three religions, have actually undergone various changes and divisions at different times in history. The matter should be viewed in line with that division.
Another thing to understand is that when studying the historical chain of religions, one has to think in two streams. Religions have a history or mythological history described in religious scriptures, and another has an archaeological and historical context that is determined by applying archaeological and historical knowledge. It is not that the two will always coincide, but both must be kept in mind.
