Dhirendranath Dutta was the first to demand that Bengali be made the state language.

After his death, his body was left outside to be spat on.

I am talking about Dhirendranath Dutt

If I ask who was the first to propose making Bengali the state language of Bangladesh, or contemporary East Pakistan?

Many of us do not remember that history. The one who remained hidden in history.

Pakistan became independent on August 14, 1947. Just six months later, on February 23, 1948, in Karachi, the man who clearly demanded in the National Assembly - "Bengali should be made the state language", is named 'Dhirendranath Dutt'.

Dhirendranath Dutt was the first to demand making Bengali the state language. Dhirendranath Dutt's demand was rejected in the Pakistan Parliament. Then the language movement began.

Dhirendranath Dutt stood in the Pakistan Parliament and said, “Out of 69 million people in East Pakistan, 44 million people speak Bengali, so in my opinion, Bengali should be the state language.” His statement can be called the first formal protest against Jinnah’s declaration that “Urdu will be the state language.” Therefore, it would not be an exaggeration to call him the “father of the language movement.”

Today, we do not remember him. Yet the rulers of Pakistan did remember him!

Dhirendranath Dutt was captured by the Pak Army on March 29, 1971, and brutally murdered in the Mainamati Cantonment. The 84-year-old man was paralyzed with his hands and feet broken and blinded by putting a pen in both eyes. After death, his body was left outside for people to spit on.

A humble tribute. We introduce such language soldiers, the sun soldiers of the heroic liberation war to the current generation. Teach children the correct history. 🙏🏻
