“Speak Up by Lincon Bd

Today, I came across a poster on the office wall, which read “Speak Up,” meaning open your mouth. This is now a necessary slogan in Japan. It means

“If you see any irregularities around you, speak up, stop them.. If you can’t, tell your boss, tell your colleagues…”

I had stopped reading Bangladeshi newspapers, and today I browsed Prothom Alo thinking, and what I saw was far from making me feel better, it was getting more and more irritating.

The first news was that the Awami League people had announced the day before that the house of a fine artist had been burned down, alleging that the fine artist Manabendra had made a face mask of Hasina on the first day of Baishakh.

Manabendra must not have made Hasina’s hideous face mask himself, he made it on the orders of government people. In that case, the government’s responsibility was to ensure the safety of Manabendra and her family. The government did not take that responsibility, it needed to have fun, it did it.. Who died, who killed, who survived, these are not the government’s business.

The second news is about a teacher being forced to resign, the gentleman had been teaching for 35 years and there were no specific charges against him. Jamaat and BNP people thought they would forcefully expel a teacher from the school, and they did. The government is not an issue here.

Another news came to my eye on social media, an Upazila Nirbahi Officer is being abused and expelled, for not wearing a burqa.

Well, tell me how long will it take for these heinous incidents to stop, a country cannot run like this.

Well, when will we Bangladeshis be able to rise above party affiliation and speak out against all injustice/injustice.

Why is there a hesitation to speak out against injustice now, for what…. If you can’t speak out now, then for what change, for what freedom?

Is this the freedom to loot, the freedom to rape, the freedom to steal/robber, the freedom to do whatever you want, the freedom to be in power, the freedom to extort…

Stop this freedom, guys speak up loudly… and now
