Ingredients (serves 2)
Sweet potato: 300g
Potato starch: 70g
Sugar: 30g
Milk: 5 tbsp
Frying oil: as needed
Butter: 10g
Honey: 1 tbsp
Salt: 1/3 tsp
Toasted black sesame seeds: 1 tsp
Instructions
① Peel the sweet potato, cut it into 1cm-thick slices, soak in water, then drain. Place in a heat-resistant bowl, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and heat in a 600W microwave for 5 minutes, or until soft.
② Mash the sweet potato while still hot, then add the potato starch and sugar and mix well. Gradually add the milk until the mixture reaches a consistency that can be shaped by hand.
③ Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape them as desired.
④ Pour frying oil into a pot to a depth of about 3cm and heat to 170°C. Fry the pieces until they are cooked through and golden brown on all sides.
⑤ Melt the butter in a frying pan over low heat, then add the honey and salt and stir to combine. Add the fried pieces and coat them gently with the mixture. Turn off the heat, sprinkle with the toasted black sesame seeds, and it’s ready!
