The continuous development of technology and AI (artificial intelligence) is bringing about huge changes in human life. There is also a debate about the acceptability of ‘robotics’. In the meantime, it has been reported that a robot will carry a fetus like a mother’s womb. The recent claim of Chinese scientists has caused a stir in the medical world around the world.
A group of Chinese scientists said that they are developing a humanoid robot (a robot that looks like a human), which is capable of carrying a child in the womb like a mother. Behind this project is a company called ‘Kaiwa Technology’ of Guangzhou, China. On their behalf, Zhang Qifeng told ‘The Telegraph’, “The embryo is waiting to be inserted into the robot’s womb. After that, the embryo will continue to grow inside it through mutual decisions between the human and the robot.”
Scientists said that in the past, premature lambs were kept in artificial ‘bio bags’ to keep them alive. This robot has been created with this idea in mind. During pregnancy, the fetus will grow inside the robot's stomach for 9 months. For this, there will be artificial amniotic fluid in the robot's stomach. In addition, the necessary elements of the fetus will be supplied to the robot from outside.
The company said that the project is almost over. The company is going to launch this special robot in the market from next year. The price of the robot may be 10 thousand pounds . However, the company has not yet released any information about the embryo creation, whether it is inserted into the robot or the method of birth of the child.
Since the news came out, there has been disagreement in different quarters of the world. The company has already started discussions on the necessary approval for the practical application of this technology at the government level. They claim that in 2007, the infertility rate in China was 11.9 percent. In 2020, it has increased to 18 percent. Therefore, in such a situation, this robot can be useful for people in the future. Again, mothers often have various complex diseases for pregnancy. Sometimes, the mother even dies during childbirth. In that case, this technology can solve the problem. However, there are different laws in different countries regarding pregnancy. It remains to be seen how acceptable the use of robots will be in the birth of children in the future.
