Ingredients (Serves 2)
2 potatoes
[A] 2 slices bacon (cut into 5mm cubes)
[A] 2 tbsp potato starch
[A] 1 tsp consommé granules
[A] Black pepper (to taste)
6 pieces "candy cheese" (small, bite-sized cheese balls)
8 spring roll wrappers
1 tbsp cake flour
1 1/2 tbsp water
5 tbsp vegetable oil
How to cook
① Peel the potatoes and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Place in a heat-resistant bowl, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and microwave at 600W for 6 minutes. Mash while still hot.
② Add [A] to the potatoes and mix well.
③ Divide the mixture into 6 portions. Place a piece of candy cheese in the center of each, wrap the potato mixture around it, and shape into a ball.
④ Cut the spring roll wrappers into thin strips, about 1cm wide.
⑤ Mix the cake flour and water. Lightly brush the mixture onto the surface of the potato balls (from step ③) and coat them thoroughly with the wrapper strips (from step ④).
⑥ Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the balls, rolling them around to cook evenly. Once they turn a golden brown all over, they are ready!
