Fourteen lamps are lit on this day to get rid of these evil forces. The light of the fourteen lamps ends the negative energy in the world. It is believed that the light of fourteen lamps can keep the Vastu, including all the members of the house, away from the grip of evil forces. At the same time, the light of the lamps will infuse good energy into the house.
It is customary to eat fourteen types of vegetables along with lighting fourteen lamps on this day.
Vegetables have medicinal properties, which increases the immunity of the human body. Whenever the immunity of the human body decreases, the risk of being attacked by various diseases increases. It increases even more during the change of seasons. For this reason, there is a tradition of eating fourteen types of vegetables on specific days, such as ol, keu, beto, kalkasunde, nimapata, jayanti, sarse, sanche, hilancha, palta, shulka, gulancha, ghenthu and sushani.
