Will humans never grow old? Can we postpone the inevitable time of death, not just due to an accident or natural disaster? Can the time of old age be stopped forever? Has a way been found to maintain youth in the body and mind even after reaching old age?
Researchers at Korea University College of Medicine in South Korea claim that they have found a way to maintain youth even after reaching old age. They claim that the process of staying young or getting old is all about the birth and death of cells. Cells will age, decay, and after the cell dies, new cells will grow in its place. This is a simple matter. As long as the process continues at a rapid pace, so will youth. When the birth rate decreases, the death rate of cells increases, and decay increases, then aging begins. If this process can be stopped in any way, it will be a miracle. Humans will completely conquer aging. There will be endless youth in the body and mind.
Korean scientists, while arguing for their claim, have said that human 'grandfathering' over genes will make this impossible possible. Because scientists have captured the movement of the protein responsible for aging. The name of the protein is 'REHMGB1'. It is the real villain. Its job is to convey the message of aging from cell to cell. When the cell will age, and when the time for cell death of which organ is approaching, it is its job to convey all these messages. It flows through the bloodstream and conveys the message to the cell of the whole body. When the body is injured, this protein also conveys the message of how much damage has been done to the cells there. In other words, its job is to convey the message of one cell's pot to another cell. When the time comes to grow old, it also conveys that message responsibly. Therefore, if we can stop its movement, the message exchange path will be closed.
Korea University researcher Ok Hee-jeon said that experiments are being conducted on mice in the laboratory. The movement of that protein has been inhibited in the mice's bodies. It has been found that after the protein's influence is reduced, cell death is reduced. The birth of new cells is faster, as a result, the time for cell degeneration is much delayed.
There is a reason why aging occurs. Except for sex cells and blood cells, every cell in the body has 23 pairs of chromosomes. The DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid that is in the body's chromosomes has a 'tail'. That 'tail' is called 'telomere'. As people move towards old age, the telomere gets smaller. If the telomere, which has become smaller, can be gradually extended, then even if we move towards old age, we can remain young in body and mind forever.
It's not just that the length of telomeres naturally decreases with age. External factors like air pollution, smoking, and alcohol consumption can also shorten the length of telomeres and bring about aging. And that protein is responsible for transmitting the news of the fate of telomeres to cells. So the main task now is to be able to stop its movement. Researchers claim that this will also keep age-related diseases at bay.
