Be it muscle health or sexual health or physical energy, work capacity - testosterone hormone plays a big role in men. The problem is, the power of this hormone also decreases with age. Research says that a very familiar spice in the kitchen can help increase testosterone. Not only that, but the same spice also helps in keeping various gynecological problems like PCOS away.
The study was done a couple of years ago in Saudi Arabia. However, it was recently mentioned by an AIIMS-trained American-based doctor, Saurabh Sethi. He says that soaking the spice in water at night and drinking that water in the morning, or even chewing the spice with it, can keep men's testosterone hormone problems under control.
The spice can also ease all the physical complications that arise in women's menopause as they age. Apart from this, the spice, which is called fenugreek, helps in producing breast milk in new mothers, maintains good hair health in both men and women, prevents the increase in cholesterol and sugar in the blood, and improves digestion.
Fenugreek is used in many daily cooking, to add flavor to dals and curries. Fenugreek is used to enhance the flavor. Fenugreek is an essential spice in Bengali cuisine. There is also a tradition of cooking fenugreek leaves or fenugreek leaves and eating them. Sun-dried fenugreek leaves are also called Kasuri methi. Even if you spread them on food, the taste of the food increases. These are the various medicinal properties of fenugreek seeds.
Doctor Sethi has mentioned some such important properties—
1. Some of the ingredients in fenugreek can help increase the total and free testosterone levels in the body of men, which can be effective in maintaining good sexual health and increasing the quality and number of sperm. Apart from this, fenugreek also helps in increasing muscle strength.
2. In women, it can keep away pain during menstrual cycle and PCOS problems. It maintains the balance of estrogen in women. During menopause, many women suffer from the problem of 'hot flashes'. Fenugreek can also control that. Apart from this, this spice helps in the production of breast milk and maintaining good sexual health in newly-born women.
3. The protein and nicotinic acid in fenugreek help strengthen hair follicles and reduce hair fall. Many people use fenugreek paste for hair problems.
4. The anti-inflammatory properties of fenugreek can help reduce pain and swelling in various parts of the body. It can be beneficial in cases of rheumatism or arthritis pain.
5. Fenugreek can also help in weight control. Because the fiber in it keeps the stomach full for a long time, which reduces the tendency to overeat. In addition, fenugreek also helps in increasing the metabolic rate, which is helpful in shedding excess fat.
