Ingredients
- Beef belly (thinly sliced, off-cuts) (cheap, fatty cuts are delicious. This time, I used shredded beef)...150-200g
- Onion...1/2
A. Sugar...about 1 teaspoon
A. Mirin...about 2 tablespoons
A. Sake...about 3 tablespoons
- Water...about 1 cup
- Powdered Japanese dashi stock (Hon-Dashi)...about 1 teaspoon
B. Grated garlic from a tube...a little, roughly 1-2cm
B. Grated ginger from a tube...a little, roughly 1-2cm
B. Soy sauce...about 2 tablespoons
B. Granulated consommé...about 1/2-1 teaspoon
- Rice...as much as you want
Directions
1. Slice the onion into thick slices. (What about thick slices?)
2. Place A in a pot over medium heat. Bring to a rolling boil, then add water and dashi stock. Once simmering, add the onion and simmer.
3. Once cooked through, add B. Once simmering, add the beef. Once the color changes, turn off the heat and let cool.
4. Place the rice in a bowl, top with 3, and garnish with sesame seeds or pickled ginger, if desired.
