Will frogs and chameleons cure cancer?

Can frogs and chameleons also treat cancer? Japanese scientists have responded to a new study. A study by the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has started a real discussion among researchers. Treating cancer with bacteria is like poisoning with poison. Infectious bacteria will attack and eat the tumor as soon as they see it. And in this way, cancer can be cured without the use of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Scientists are moving forward with such efforts. Although the research has been done on mice for now.

The research is supervised by Professor Ejiro Miyako. He said that a type of bacteria called Euingella americana grows in the body of the Japanese tree frog (Dryophytes japonicus). This bacteria also grows in the body of the grass lizard species of chameleon. The researchers have found that this bacteria has properties that can destroy tumors. It has been observed that when such bacteria are introduced into the body of mice, they increase in number very rapidly. Within 24 hours, their number has reached about 3,000. Such a large number of bacteria have jumped together and eaten the tumor cells. As a result, the tumor has no time or opportunity to divide and increase in number.

The bacteria can kill cancer cells faster than the drugs currently used to treat cancer or chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Japanese researchers have claimed that. Tests have shown that when these bacteria enter the body, immune T-cells, B-cells and neutrophils become active. These are all immune cells that grow inside the body. When they sense the presence of bacteria like Ewingella americana, the immune cells wake up and start producing special proteins that can kill cancer cells. Researchers have found two types of proteins in the body of mice, called 'TNF-alpha' and 'IFN-gamma'. They claim that both of these proteins destroy tumor cells.

However, research is underway to determine how effective the method of treating cancer with bacteria will be. It is also worth seeing how they will behave when the toxins of infectious bacteria are reduced and introduced into the human body. Although the researchers claim that after destroying the cancer cells in the mice, the bacteria did not harm the healthy cells. After observing the mice for at least a couple of months, it was seen that the bacteria did not cause any other diseases. The researchers claim that the bacteria in the frog's body will be useful in treating breast and pancreatic cancer. It remains to be seen how effective the bacteria therapy is in the human body.
